CONGRATULATIONS! To Brian Perkins, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron December 2014 Colleague of the Month. A huge congrats to SJMPHs Brian Perkins for receiving the December Colleague of the month! Brian has worked as an Emergency Care Technician in the SJMPH Emergency Department since June of 2011. Brian was nominated for this recognition by his peers in the Emergency Services Department for taking the time and initiative to ensure that colleagues were properly educated and trained on necessary Ebola precautions to keep his peers and the SJMPH patients safe. Brians peers shared that Brian gathered and organized all the equipment in the now called EBLOA room, became a great resource for the screening process and spearheaded the training education for the department. He also became a super-user training colleagues throughout the hospital on the proper use of the protective equipment requirements. All of this was done because this individual cared. He is concerned for the welfare of the colleagues, patients and organization. He has made himself available after-hours, off-shifts and weekends to help anyone who needs to be trained. This type of ethic is Brians norm. He trains and supervises paramedic, nursing and RESA students as well as the entire ED staff. Brian talks to patients with professionalism and compassion with each and every interaction and holds his peers accountable to that same standard. If being a star means you do one thing to help a patient or colleague then Brian would be the entire sky. Thank you Brian for everything you do on a daily basis so our patients and their families are taken care of! You are a valued member of the SJMPH family!
