CONGRATULATIONS to the Iowa Governors Traffic Safety Bureau and the Iowa Department of Public Safety for being selected as the International Chiefs of Police “National Law Enforcement Challenge Regional Enforcement Effort Award for 2014.” The Departments are being recognized for the implementation of the I-80 Challenge that took place last July. The focus of the “I-80 Challenge” was to bring together the 11 state highway patrol agencies along the 2,900 miles of interstate 80 to create public awareness through both an increased law enforcement presence and media outreach. Since the I-80 Challenge, similar events have been held along I-40 and I-90. The Department will be honored at the IACP National Convention in Orlando, FL in October.
