CONGRESSMAN PEARCE ENCOURAGED BY BENGHAZI COMMITTEE FORMATION Washington, DC (May 6, 2014) Congressman Steve Pearce is encouraged that Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, will form a select committee to investigate the State Department’s handling of the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. “This decision is long overdue. Americans deserve answers to the questions they have demanded since this tragedy occurred in 2012,” said Congressman Steve Pearce. “The American people still know nothing about the circumstances that surround the deaths of four Americans killed during the brutal attack on our consulate. I stand with New Mexicans and our citizens who continue to demand nothing short of full transparency and an expedient investigation without further delay.” In April 2013, Pearce cosponsored HR 36, legislation to establish a committee to investigate and report on the Benghazi attack. In November 2012, he sent a letter to the White House, inquiring about the attacks. Pearce did not receive a response to this letter.
