CONSIDER THIS ON THIS DAY: doing better is a lifestyle not a goal We have had more days where we have felt good about ourselves over the few days, which seemed to suck the life right out of us. As time passes and we get older, we can take pause and look back over the successes because we have marked each time we left a storm with a smile and the thoughts that we have definitely learned a new lesson. With each new experience, comes wisdom. In the middle of hard circumstances, the idea of leaving the pursuit of certain goals because the rungs on the ladder are a little further apart this time should not be an option. Things only become hard when we speak them and then begin believing them. You learned to ride a bike – only through working at it You’ve had a job, lost that job – yet you found strength enough to take the experience and find another You had the first crush; that first love – that clown failed you and called you names, but you moved on and are still here (even when it felt like your heart had been crushed and broken) In Mark 10 & Matthew 19, a young man asked the question of how to get and gain eternal life. His question was serious enough that he could not accept the simple answer. He was stuck on getting and gaining things from hard work and lack of focus on the source of all things. His goal setting was a job and had become habitual to the point he had lost focus on what life can offer those who live and learn, instead learn to live Yeah, bad days do happen. Getting through them takes a lifestyle change, which requires leaving old thought patterns and decisions behind and stepping forward with the acceptance of new choices. Trying the same ideas over and over will not change the situation and end negative circumstances In those days that we struggle to make it through, we are often bombarded by friends and family who see us making it through the storms of life and yet cry that they deserve the benefits of our hard work because their bills are overdue and they are holding a disconnect notice. Bills and problems are not like Amazonian snakes. They do not sneak up on anyone. Yet, we lend hand and help them up. The problem with the repeat cycle of bill-begging people and the young ruler in the Bible is that they have stuff, but they refuse to focus on taking care of business and get to know the one person who can make all things fall in line by a simple change of lifestyle. All it takes is a simple, I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH THIS & THIS IS NOT GOING TO EAT ME UP, spoken into your situation – wrapped in the belief that you trust Jesus to be your confidant. READ Mark 10:17-27 and Matthew 19:16-22 Make this day the day you choose to take a look at your path in life and address those anchors which have caused you to fear and regret remaining in the same place – month after month after month.
