CONSIDER YOUR WAYS You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” 7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! 8 Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the LORD. (Haggai 1:6-8) This is an interesting description of a totally unproductive and unfulfilled life. One that none of us would want for ourselves - where effort and reward are unrelated and misaligned. The judgement referred to includes economic stagnation, unfulfilled consumption and financial leakages. The remedy the Lord recommends is to first consider our ways. That requires us to carefully think of what we did to get here. The second is to commit efforts and resources to the work of the Lord. He says that as we build His house, He will take pleasure in it and be glorified. May you bring pleasure to God and see His glory in your life. Youre blessed indeed!
