CONSTRUCTION OF MAKUTANO - KIKIMA TAWA ROAD On Tuesday 3rd December 2013 I requested for a clarification in the Senate regarding the Construction of Makutano – Kikima and Tawa Road. I inquired how long it would take Victory Construction Company to complete the road bearing in mind that they had taken seven years to construct 24.6 kilometers. In a response dated 17th February 2014 the Ministry informed the Senate that construction and Tarmacking of 4.6 kilometers was awarded to the contractor this current financial year and will take the contractor (4) months to complete for the final layer. However, due to budgetary constraints at the time of inception of the project, and no allocation under Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has made works to this roads do not start immediately. The budgetary estimate the cost for these works to be completed is Ksh. 300,000,000. The balance of 19 kilometers from Kikima to Kyambalasi is in tenderly process and is estimated will take (12) months.
