CONTROL As I scramble around the house trying to get a few - TopicsExpress

CONTROL As I scramble around the house trying to get a few things done, to tidy up the place; something begins to dawn on me. My three cats are the most clever beings in the house. I cannot begin to compare with their abilities at getting needs met AT THE PRECISE TIME they wish to HAVE IT NOW. At certain times of the day the cats begin to lay out their instructions. Other than getting their way, at their precise time, they could care less about my being here. WELL, not totally true; they do enjoy laying about the house directly on the path I wish to travel. And if that is not enough; they become quite angry as I step near them. OK, so here we have a case in point. At 8A I was still in bed....this infuriates Silver, the eldest cat. So, she comes to me and yanks on my hair.....pulling out many strands. This has been her way since she was a baby. She fully expects her breakfast on or about 8 A. The other cats eat first , as Silver looks on saying , Mom I am not really hungry at all. But it is 8 and they need to eat. After breakfast, for the cats; they will actually chase me around, bite my bare toes and slap at me until the birds and Wee Thomas are fed. Now you ask ,why . The reason is twofold...the cats get a treat when I feed Thomas and it is THE SCHEDULE. Who knew a cat could even begin to comprehend a schedule.....I mean I cant; and allegedly I am more brainy than a cat ;) Their next plan is to impede any of my house work by lying exactly in a place I need step to ....shall we say , make up the bed. And should I dare suggest they move away from the bed or off the bed, the become infuriated. Now I ask, have you ever tried walking around a bed to make it up with cats laying all along the floor next to it. This morning I wanted to sit outside with my croissant and coffee. Shadow actually had the temerity to sit near the window facing out back, hit on the window shade pullers and make enough noise to get my attention. In his estimation, I had not completed the chores that concern a cat....i. e. brushing all of them. As I came back inside tho, not one cat came near me. Obviously it was way too exhausting to order mom around and everyone needed a nap. So several hours later; I am doing housework while the CONTROL FREAKS sleep. The heck with that Ill write a silly story instead. Beth Campbell Baker....................slave to cats.
