Speaker Justin Muturi goes down in history as having presided over this landmark event. Coincidentally, the back now stops with Uhuru Mwigai son of Jomo Kenyatta; will he sign it into law? Let me recap on a story i enjoy reading that draws lots of similarity to this scenario... The year is 931BC and the people came and spoke to 41 year old Rehoboam (uhuru), saying, Your father (Kenyatta) made our yoke heavy (heavy taxes, detention without trial, assassinations, wanton corruption and nepotism); now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you. Three days later, rejecting the wise counsel of the elderly who had served during his fathers time (Mutahi Ngunyi) and opting for that of youthful men who told him as he wanted to hear (Ruto, Duale e.t.c), Rehoboam replies...My little finger is thicker than my fathers waist; and now whereas my father put a heavy yoke on you, i will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips i will chastise you with scourges (sign the bill) afterwards 10 out of the 12 tribes of Israel revolted and pledged allegiance to Jeroboam son of Nebert and King Roboam was left with only 2 tribes to rule ending the dynasty of Davids hegemonic domination over all Israel. May Uhuru take the advice of Mutahi Ngunyi and take back this bill to parliament for proper review and ammendment.
