CONTROVERSY about an early collection of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, The Alexis Adler Collection. Despite the current brouhaha from the Basquiat estate (with Basquiats sisters claiming the lack of authentication of some of the pieces), my sister, Malu Halasa and Adlers other friends -- including prominent NYC writers, filmmakers, cultural critics, many of whom graduated from Barnard in the 1970s -- can attest to the veracity of the work. Here are photos of the art, from last monday nights art opening of Adlers early collection of the artist as a young man, from late 1970s and early 1980s.
