COOK TAKES NICE PAYDAY IN STOCK CAR FEATURE AT MOUNTAIN-DEW BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY By: Tony Paris (Bloomfield, Iowa) Racing action was held Saturday night sponsored by KBOE Radio 104.9FM and Mountain-Dew Kick Start with four exciting classes in action. The weather was perfect for a beautiful evening of racing in all four divisions. The night started off with the Kirkland Auto Hobby stocks with twelve drivers in competition and Dustin Griffiths keeping his win streak alive taking his four straight win at Bloomfield. Griffiths was never really challenged. Giffiths raced his way to the lead on lap one and lead all sixteen laps. The runner-up spot went to Dane Blozovich of Exline and the battle for third between Ben Grove and Steve Allen got exciting with Allen and Grove trading paint and Grove’s machine spinning coming to the checkers and he crossed the finish line backwards in fourth and Allen in third. The Kollision Korner sport compacts saw first time visitor Michael Grossman of Keokuk take the win after starting tenth. Kassidy Kirkpatrick streak of three straight came to a end with Grossman scoring the win. Kirkpatrck raced his way from the back after a late caution sent his tailback but still raced his 27 machine to the runner-up spot. Another first time visitor Josh Barnes raced his way to a third place finish and Aaron Bridgeman of Bloomfield in fourth. In the Mike’s Tire and Alignment sport mods Ryan Fullenkamp was going for his fourth straight win and this week Ryan had to race his way from the last starting spot in 17th after a heat race disqualification for a illegal spring cup. This didn’t slow the 10R down he raced his way to the lead and held off Brandon Dale of Gorin, Mo. Who took the second spot. The third spot went to Kelly Buckallew who had his best finish with a third and Roger Dresden of Keokuk started sixteenth and got fourth when the checkers flew. The final feature of the night was another round of the Budweiser six pack shootout for the Taylor Automotive Stock Cars with 24 cars taking the green and 24 lucky fans trying to cheer on their driver. This was another night of qualifying for the $50k fan giveaway night. We seen two and three wide racing with Louis Lynch, Jason Cook, Todd Reitzler, Jerry Pilcher and several other drivers battle for the lead. Cook would work the bottomside of the speedway along with Louis Lynch the two would swap the lead. The two hard chargers were Reitzler and Bob Lynch who raced up to third and fourth working the high side after starting twelfth and sixteenth. Three late cautions would close the field up for a exciting green, white and checker finish with Cook holding off a late charge from Nathan Wood of Sigourney who started eight and took the runner-up spot when the checkers flew. A pair of Lynch’s rounded out the third and fourth spot with Louis Lynch in third and Bob Lynch in fourth. A very happy Jason Cook who was all smiles after coming home second the last two show but he took home a nice $700 win and Kathy Lasser of Ottumwa joined Savannah Byrd of Fairfield and Jason Glass of Memphis, Mo. With a chance to win $50k in the fan giveaway. This week racing action will be on Friday night with the long awaited Brockway Mechanical 360 Sprint Invaders taking on the fast 3/8mile speedway. Things will get underway with hot laps at 7pm and racing action to follow. This will also be another night of the Budweiser six pack stock car shootout with the winner taking a nice $800 payday and some lucky fan will join the already three fans who have qualified for a chance at $50k fan giveaway. Hobby stocks, sport mods and sport compacts will be in action as well in a draw/redraw format.
