COOKIE MAN - THE REVIEW Aside for being food lovers, I’m sure many of you here have a big sweet tooth as well, so we will try reviewing as many good places to get your quick fix of delicious sweet delicacies. So the other day while we were looking for new places around the neighborhood, we came across this new bakery called Cookie Man located in Banani. We later found out that it is an Australian franchise that opened in early July. Curious to try it out, we quickly went inside. First Impressions: The shop is moderately spacious and well furnished with sufficient seating. Being primarily a bakery specializing in cookies, it is also geared to being the next hang out spot. The place was well kept and maintained (though it’s still very new) and the added bonus was that it had wifi as well. The cookies and baked goodies were displayed in large well lit displays but my only trouble with it that it did not have the prices on the labels – but then again it was a very new store and they are probably still fixing the prices. Rating – 9/10 The Baked Goods: They have an extensive selection of various cookies – both chewy and crunchy, as well as brownies and muffins. The customer can choose whatever cookies they want, from most of their selection, in a pack at a set price of 300Tk per kg. I tried the white chocolate raspberry and oatmeal raisin cookies – both were soft and chewy but I personally loved the white chocolate one more. It had chunks of delectable white chocolate along with bits raspberries, the oatmeal cookie was a bit too eggy for my liking. Tukun took the 1kg package of various crunchy cookies. The package consisted of various cookies ranging from oatmeal to chocolate chip, almond to butter, ginger bread to short bread and so on. Most of the cookies tasted great except for a few (such as the Brandy Snap) that tasted even better than the others. Some of them tasted quite plain, but from a little trial and error you will soon be able to figure out which ones are better than the others. The brownies are about 180Tk per piece and there are several flavors ranging from chocolate caramel fudge, milk chip brownie, white chocolate chip brownie, chocolate brownie and several others (yours truly had all the ones mentioned earlier- don’t judge!). In my opinion I prefer the chocolate brownie and caramel fudge brownie over the other ones. The caramel fudge brownie tastes pretty amazing, it kind of tastes like a fudge pie. The chocolate brownies all have the same base chocolatey taste, but I would suggest you to get the plain chocolate brownie since its sweetness wasn’t overwhelming like the other ones (which isn’t always a bad thing!) On top of all the brownies I consumed, I surprisingly still had enough room to stuff a muffin down my throat. I tried the double chocolate chip cupcake which was quite good – another purchase you can opt to make. The shop also offers fresh coffee and may start to offer more refreshments soon as they have just started up. Rating – 8/10 Service: The staff was quite friendly and helpful. They had a solid knowledge about their products and services. They were also kind enough to let us sample their chocolate chip cookie, which was good (although I’m a fan of the chewy variety). The store also offers various customizable tins for their signature cookies for any special occasion which I think is a very helpful service. You can order a box customized with your own writing and design, and fill it with whatever goods you desire – it makes a great gift! The shop also gives out complimentary cookies, which is a hospitable yet rare act in our country – another plus! Rating – 9/10 Price vs Quantity and Quality: Although the prices may seem a bit steep for some, the overall quality of their products is worth the extra money. The cookies are baked fresh at their store daily and they don’t keep their baked good on the shelf for more than 3 days, so you can safely consume it without fearing food poisoning. With the combination of a good selection of high quality products and a great customer service we can only predict good things for the future about Cookie Man. Check them out if you haven’t already!
