COP SETS UP MEDIA CENTRE The Church of Pentecost has established a media centre that disseminate information to the wider church publics using contemporary media platforms. The media hub, involves the use of technology and social media platforms such as facebook, twitter, podcast, whatsApp, and the traditional media to facilitate the propagation of the gospel to a wider coverage especially the youth. The Publications Officer, Ovr. Isaac Annor, who disclosed this during a meeting with the Church’s media fraternity in the Northern Sector in Kumasi on Friday, November 21, 2014, noted that things have changed and that technology has become the order of the day. The participants were drawn from the Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo Region, and the three Northern Regions. Ovr. Annor maintained that a church of the calibre of the COP which has massive followers across the globe cannot help but to take advantage of the technological trends to stay current so as to be relevant to the current generation in order to draw them to Christ. He noted that social media for instance which the youth are fond of is a very powerful tool that the church will use to reach out to the current generation to win them for Christ. The Publications Officer therefore urged the media fraternity who are already in the system to use their various platforms to promote the activities of the church. He also advised them to regularly visit the church’s official website (thecophq.org) and contribute by sending stories from their various locals to the site. He also asked the media practitioners in the church to follow the church’s official facebook page which has the portrait of Pastor James McKeown and wife as the profile picture so as to circulate it to their friends on facebook. He disclosed that the COP this week is doing a professional promotion of its facebook page so as to get massive followers. He announced that the Chairman, the General Secretary and other key officials of the church will soon start live interaction and share the gospel with their followers via the various social media platforms. He encouraged the participants to follow the Chairman, the General Secretary, the International Missions Director and the leadership of the Church on their personal platforms. He again said the church was also working on an Android mobile application which will be downloaded onto a user’s phone, to perform multiple tasks also with the aim of winning souls for Christ. The Chairman, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah admonished the media fraternity to use their expertise to support the church’s bid to use technology and the various media platforms to promote the activities of the church. Members of the media fraternity commended the church for the engagement and pledged their readiness to bring their know-how on board to help the church use the media to promote its activities and propagate the gospel.
