COPERS kicked the year off with post-Christmas toy drive in New Bataan last January 4, 2015. New Bataan parish priest Fr. Edgar Tuling received the toys along with some educational materials before they were delivered to the Mary Mediatrix daycare center in Brgy. Andap. The two-classroom center was finished in June 2014 and is currently in the process of acquiring materials for use in early childhood education activities for the kids of the community. COPERS affiliates Cha Ferraris, Kenneth Ragonton, and Randolph Reserva facilitated the delivery of the toys. They were joined by Grade School affiliates Sweet Sevilla-Espino, Analyn Cortez, and Michelle Mari Mercado. It was Ms. Espino’s idea to mount a Christmas toy drive for the children of New Bataan. The turnover was marked with games and activities attended by 75 children from the community. Earlier in the day, the team visited Sitio Plateau in Andap for a simple gift-giving activity to 25 children. The team also visited Purok 4 New Bataam Poblacion where gifts and lootbags were given to the children before heading back to Davao City.
