COROWA RSL SQUASH Monday Night Comp Rd 13 Played 28th Oct 2013 Jaguars V Tigers Simon Pyle (Jaguars) def Dylan Leslie 1 Rubber 3 games 27 points to 1 game 17 points. Dylan did really well to get a game off the best No2 in the competition, but he kept on making the same basic mistake, and he knows what that is. It’s not that hard to fix. Michael Lethbridge (Tigers) def Allan Glen 1 Rubber 3 games 27 points to 10 points. Allan tried really hard, but Michael was just to experienced for him. Allan runs well, and with practice could become a pretty handy player. Rebels Def Swans 2 Rubbers 8 games 89 points to 2 Rubbers 6 games 85 points. Mark Nesbitt (Rebels) def Phil Lelieve 1 Rubber 3 games 27 points to 7 points. Mark was always in control of this match. Phil’s long reach didn’t seem to phase Mark, he just kept on hitting the ball to where Phil wasn’t. John Kostiw (Swans) def Jane Bromwich 1 Rubber 3 games 42 points to 2 games 25 points. This was an intense match, both players gave no quarter, and were out there to win. Simon Pyle did an excellent job of refereeing this, at times , difficult match. John got fired up in the 5th game which enabled him to win fairly easily. Jane to her credit played a very good game, with good back hand drives, but John finished with decisively more points. Mark Massey (Rebels) def Helen Fuge 1 Rubber 3 games 27 points to 19 points. This was a big improvement by Mark, because when they met in Rd 8 Helen beat him in 5, although he got more points. He’s starting to hit his straps at the right time of the season He’s only got one nemesis. Audra Holden (filling in for Frank Fitzgerald def Rory Stones 1 Rubber 3 games 27 points to 10 points. Rory gave Audra a bit of a run for her money, but in the end she had the better shots, and her lob serves were winners. Thursday Night Comp Rd 13 Played 31 Oct 2013 Lions V Galahs Dylan Leslie (Lions ) def Damien Pleming 1 rubber 3 games 45 points to 23 points. Both players hit the ball extremely hard, but the game is about pace and place not bash and dash. Dylan’s had the wood over Damian all season, so this result is not unexpected.. Simon Pyle (Lions) def Chanelle Upton 1 Rubber 3 games 45 points to 40 points. Although Chanelle always tries hard Simon was always in control of this match, as he has been in moist matches played this season, He will make his presence felt next season playing as a number 1. Luke Nichols(Galahs) def Chris Reilly 1 Rubber3 games 45 points to 27 points. Although Chris has some reasonably good shots (when he’s given the opportunity to play them) Luke was just too quick. Luke could develop into a pretty handy player if he keeps on playing this great game. Emus V Kangaroos Chris Rubbechi (Emus) def Brett Arnold(filling in for Rohan Sorensen) 1 Rubber 3 games 58 points to 1 game 32 points. This was a good standard game, with both players playing good shots, and running well for the ball. Chris has a very effective game style and it worked against Doggy, as it does against all other players. Mark Chappell (Emus) def Gerard Bevan 1 Rubber 3 games 47 points to 21 points. Both players are young, and quick around the court, but Mark has the better shots, and knows what shot to play and when. Gerard certainly has potential. Zane Culhane (Emus) def Jamie Warner 1 rubber 3 games 45 points to 16 points. Zane had Jamie’s measure on the night. He seems to have the edge over Jamie. Wombats V Echidnas Jim McGrath (Wombats) def Danny Green 1 Rubber 3 games 47 points to 29 points. Danny tries really hard, but Jim was just too experienced. Audra Holden(Wombats) def Matt Menz1 Rubber3 games 45 points to 27 points.. Matt runs for everything which means he tries hard, but Audra had the better shots.. Her lob serves were winners as were her forehand drives.. In this Thursday night comp there should be 15 matches played, there was only 8 !!!!! It’s hard to run a successful comp if there are so many matches not played.
