CORPORATE | Fabrice Le Saché, CEO of ecosur afrique, invited speaker at the UN round table consultation for the future of carbon market mechanisms. The meeting was held on 15th -16th September at the UN Climate Change Headquarter in Bonn featuring UNFCCC Secretariat directors, industry representatives and market stakeholders. Fabrice Le Saché expressed ecosur afriques belief that market mechanisms are the best tool to reduce CO2 emissions in a cost effective way and underlined the role of Africa, the next giant of carbon markets. He voiced the needs for procedure simplification, extension of CDM loan schemes and pleaded for wider use of French to enhance Francophone countries access to the market. Fabrice also supported the idea of a new label towards projects featuring high social impact. He pleaded for a fair competition between Africa and other emerging countries and raised questions about oversupply coming from China, India and Brazil. Meeting proceedings will be included in the UN roadmap for next year States level meeting (Paris - COP 15) which targets a new international agreement for climate policy after 2020 as a successor to the Kyoto Protocol. cdm.unfccc.int/stakeholder/index.html
