CORRUPTION BRIGADE:IS GOVERNOR ROBA WITH THEM OR AGAINST THEM? The dwindling terror attacks in the Mandera triangle by the ragtag Somalia based Shebab militants is a fruit of intense lobbying & rallying calls by Governor Cpt Ali Ibrahim Roba.He literally oscillated between Nairobi State House,the national police service,Mandera & the offices of leaders from Mandera county to seek their input toward the escalating terror attacks that was derailing development,unsettling the fragile inter-ethnic harmony & paralysing vital industries such as health,education & construction.He was the brainchild of the clarion calls of Okoa Mandera initiative.And true to the spirit,Mandera has been okoad from the jaws of Shabab terror,at least upto to this moment. But then again,the youthful governor seems to be keeping a blind eye to an emerging form of terrorism-ECONOMIC TERRORISM! Economic terrorists are the County officials swindling public funds & personifying nepotism in government jobs.Economic terrorist can be someone as senior as a member of the County executive committee or as Junior as a cashier or a clerk in a certain department.Economic terrorists dont blow up vehicles on highways like their cousins,Alshabab & Boko Haram do.They blow up public accounts.They dont kill people.They kill public confidence in the government.Manderas hoi polloi are victims of such crimes as economic terrorists tow away millions of cash in wheelbarrows,donkey carts & on hands to their safe houses.The county assembly,a constitutionally mandated institution for oversight role,is composed of dull,dumb & dead selected & imported fellows with zero clue about their roles.The lack of media coverage & civil society groups in Mandera is a blessing for the economic terrorists who are undertaking crimes unabated. It is here that I believe the back stops with Governor Cpt Ali Ibrahim Roba as the countys political head.Can we anticipate for his clarion call of okoaring Mandera from economic terrorist with the same zeal as he did with okoaring Mandera from Alshabab terrorists?He supported the national governments efforts in eliminating Alshabab terrorist from Mandera.Will he support our voices in helping to eliminate economic terrorists from Mandera?And by the way,is he with them or against them?Time will tell.
