CORWEN STATION...A TRAIN-LOAD OF BALLAST! (videoclip...Tuesday July 8 2014) Isnt it nice for us who recall trains in Corwen before to hear once more the lovely metallic clatter of wheels on rail and the buffers on the trucks clunking against one another after almost fifty years! -the familiar sounds of the old shunting yard all those years back further down West of town.Whats happening there is the men are standing on the back of each truck-load of stone ballast and letting it out of the trucks onto the line as the train moves slowly along-that small yellow machine is the hydraulically driven tamper that will tamp it down firmly between line and sleepers...next job will now likely be assembling the temporary platform there, and following other final touches hopefully the rail inspector will announce one day- trains to Corwen are now-go!
