COSTA DE LA LUZ & GIBRALTAR WEATHER UPDATE Thursday 17th April 2014: Good day everyone. I hope your all managing to enjoy that sun whilst we still have it and also enjoying that amazing spectacle that is the Holy Week here in Spain!!!......That sun should continue to be the main theme today although cloud is building and approaching fast from the direction of North Africa and this is expected to move across you during today, which we are not expecting rain from but never say never!!!........And, that gusty breeze returns in places!!!......Dont forget that a lot of shops close early today, remain closed tomorrow, but open again Saturday so do check what the shops are doing in your own area so you dont get caught short!!!.......Tomorrow is Good Friday......and there was me thinking every Friday was good!!!......That sun sticks with you in the main but we may just start to see that cloud build already in some areas of Huelva Province right from the start of the day with the remainder seeing the cloud build as we approach the evening!!!.......Saturday for most is going to hail the start of a period of poor weather. In terms of the length of that period, I will address that further down (I just love the suspense!!!).......On Saturday I am expecting to see a large waft of cloud move across from the South West and is likely to create overcast conditions, particularly through the straits, with risk of rain. Pretty much the rest of the group will see this cloud cover with that sun poking through possible broken cloud!!!......Now lets talk about that time period of inclement weather which, up until this morning was to be relatively short!!!.....The synopsis for the cause of this weather is that a low pressure (Depression) has developed out in the Atlantic and was to run up north remaining off shore of Portugal dragging across the Iberian Peninsular the increased cloud from the warmer waters of the Upper Mid Atlantic. However, one of the more reliable weather models has changed overnight and is showing this depression to start to break up as opposed to stay intact......This is the point that, as a person forecasting your weather, I have to make decisions and I have spent a some time trolling across the current charts and can now say that, in my humble opinion, this inclement weather is likely to remain through the week, save for a possible lull in the middle!!!.......I am going with this depression breaking up and believe its a good call by The German Met Office whilst the remaining four medium to short range weather models I review are not shifting and are saying that by Wednesday we are clear and dry!!!......But, I am the forecaster and with this breakup of that low pressure system it opens the door for what has been gathered up by its rotation to move swiftly on shore Saturday, giving us mainly cloud Sunday with high risk of rain, and rain again Monday and into Tuesday, possible break Wednesday although cloudy with sun, and then back to probably even worse weather as some really nasty stuff moves in from the Atlantic through that door that remains open due to the breakup of that system!!!......Sorry folks, but its now not looking good at all next week.......Now with this weather I am now looking for some very heavy rain to move in. At this time it is way too early to give a time line or location except to say to pay attention as we proceed into the beginning of next week and do watch for those official advisos being raised by AEMET!!!......In this groups area I am expecting to see some severe winds over the coming days!!!....... For those of you who know my forecasts, if I think there is a threat and I spot it in advance I will post up what we term an LFWW Early Adviso. This is merely me seeing something that could develop but it has proven effective and all I ask if I say this is to sit up and listen!!!......However, this is the weather and anything could pop up out of the blue during inclement weather so thats why we are here collectively........to post up what we see that is threat to others!!!.......So again, enjoy the sun and fingers crossed this incoming weather remains a breeze and nourishes those dry bits!!!......Please do share this out and get your family and friends in Spain on board. Its the Easter Holidays in the UK and other countries and there will be a few disappointed people over here on their vacation who would benefit from some early warning!!!.......Jim Fraser for the Local Fire & Weather Watch Network.
