COUNCIL 81 ACTION REQUEST TEAM ZAC ATTACK Help in the fight for Autism today! Brother Paul J. Simon, III, an IBEW International Representative and DE State AFL-CIO Political Education Committee Chair and his son Paul and his wife Karyn are participating in a “in Walk Now for Autism Speaks on November 2, 2013 for Paul’s grandson Zachary. Please read Brother Simon’s email and participate in this worthwhile event! Good evening. I hope this finds you and yours well. I struggled with sending this out and have included everyone off of my contacts that I thought I knew well enough to share this with. Below you will see and e-mail from my son Paul’s wife Karyn regarding participating in a Walk for Autism on November 2nd, 2013 in Philadelphia, PA. If you do not know, this is not just some charity that was picked. Their three (3) year old son, and our grandson Zachary, was diagnosed as autistic about three (3) months ago. Fortunately, he is not considered as being majorly afflicted and is attending a special school that deals with similarly learning impaired children. While not life threatening, especially in severe cases, it can majorly impact not only the child but the entire family. In addition, it is amazing how little is available in conventional medicine to help children diagnosed with this ailment. As a result, we have turned to a Homeopathic, MD who has been treating children with this ailment for some time with amazing results. So you know, there are only two (2) such doctors that we could find in the entire country. One is in California and the other is in West Chester, PA. While we are blessed to have him right in our back yard, unfortunately his services are not covered by health insurance. While that does not present a problem for us since we have been blessed and can pay for his services, there are many who cannot. So my wife Holly and I will be walking for “Team Zac Attack” on November 2nd, 2013 not only our grandson, but also for all of those who are struggling every day with this disease. I know times are tough and am sending this to make you aware of the need for research into this ailment and to ask if you can spread the word about Autism. Any assistance/support you can provide would be greatly appreciated. On behalf of Zac and our family, I thank you for your time and consideration! Sincerely. Paul J. Please join me in my fight to make a difference in the lives of the more than 1 million Americans living with autism today. Dad & Mom, I am participating in Walk Now for Autism Speaks to help find the missing pieces of autism. Autism is the second most common developmental disorder in the United States affecting one in every 88 children born today. More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined. Research is crucial. Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist. Our goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders, and soon. Walk Now for Autism Speaks is our chance to make a difference in the fight against autism by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness. Please join me in my fight as I raise money to help fund essential research. You can donate to Walk Now for Autism Speaks and/or join my team online using the links at the bottom of this page. Donations can also be mailed to Autism Speaks using the donation form located on my page or send me a check made out to Autism Speaks.
