COUNCILMEMBER PARKS APPEARING ON MSNBC’S HARDBALL WITH CHRIS MATTHEWS AND NANCY GRACE’S PROGRAM ON HEADLINE NEWS TO DISCUSS LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN SHOOTING DEATH INVESTIGATION OF MICHAEL BROWN WHAT: Councilmember Bernard C. Parks will appear on Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC and Nancy Grace’s show on Headline News today to discuss the latest developments in the shooting death investigation of Ferguson, Missouri teen Michael Brown. Monday morning, results of the preliminary autopsy requested by Brown’s family were released and found that Brown had six gunshot wounds and it appears that there was no sign of a struggle on the teen’s part. A video from another witness to Brown’s death has also surfaced showing Officer Darren Wilson’s interaction with Brown’s body immediately after being fatally shot. Ferguson was experiencing a brief lull in destructive demonstrations until Friday when Ferguson Police released convenient store footage that implicated Brown may have participated in a robbery. Many saw the release of the tape as a way of victim blaming, insinuating Brown was responsible for his own death. The National Guard has been deployed in another attempt to keep peace. Councilmember Parks served as Chief of Police for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) from 1997-2002 and as an officer for 38 years. He was Assistant Chief during the OJ Simpson chase and Deputy Chief during the Rodney King beating: two highly incendiary events in Los Angeles and the world’s history. Parks, a Civil Rights Walk of Fame inductee and crusader for civil rights, issued a resolution last year that asked that the Department of Justice investigate the death of Trayvon Martin to find if his civil rights were violated.
