COUNTDOWN TO ELECTIONS 2014: day nine on island.....overseas voters arrive and DLP stumbles unto letter and I become famous. First of all let me thank so many of you for your kind encouragement and kind words as I walked the streets of Roseau. My inbox has also been inundated with well wishes. When I started doing these, I never expected that this would have become such a movement and for this I am humbled. My day started slightly different than usual. Not since I entered most homes in DA as news anchor for GIS has the spotlight been directed to me. The nostalgia of those days of announcing some of the governments burning issues came running back. The attention would have been welcomed if it was not for the untrue nature of the allegations. Its amazing how these clowns keep talking loud but saying absolutely nothing. After months of education, months of shaming and naming and months of pleading with the illegal overseas votes to stay away from the election, the overseas voters began arriving in a trickle. Reports on the radio station put the estimated number as much as 436 prior to the shaming game began. Patriotshave been capturing images of the persons arriving and posting them to social network. It is however being reported that the calling of names and publicizing of their images has had considerable effect and is thought to have decreased the numbers who would have arrived. It remains to be seen to what extent this particular group will have on the final outcome. It also remains to be seen what if anything the authorities are prepared to do to address any potential irregularity. The final major event of the day was a letter outed by the incumbent, purporting to be coming from leader of the UWP Lennox Linton To the Taiwanese mission seeking closer ties and promising to work them into a UWP administration. The incumbent was quick to take this to their bass and seek yet another rallying call. The irony of the whole thing is the alleged manufacturing of the letter according to leader Linton. Having seen the letter there were a number of inconsistencies that seemed to back up lennox a denial of having written the letter or or participated in its existence. The incumbent stages a major rally featuring Morgan Heritage on Saturday. Persons have expressed interest in seeing the band perform some key songs they have become famous for. Now for my take away: the momentum of the UWP seems unabated. The incumbent have gone away from their manifesto, gone away from their 14 year record and seems looking around the room for straws to hold on to. The loud silence by the silent crowd is occasionally broken by a change statement. The call for CHANGE seems to be growing stronger with each blunder by the government. With a handful of days remaining, only the finishing touches are left. Folks will be sent back to their respective corners and the real fighting where it matters most will begin.
