COUPLES DEVOTIONAL BIBLE LOVES LAST WORD Stories are most profitable when used as mirrors for serving ourselves . The story of Eden , for instances , helps us remember why we married . It calls us back to our original idealism and delight in each other ( see Gen. 1-2). Our marriages may have been in Eden , but they have not stayed there . They are filled with jealousy , anger , frustration . Is there any possibility that the unashamed naked and passionate drought of Eden can be restored ? Let us look in the mirror of God perseveres , in spite of the pain of rejection . Can this marriage between God and his unfaithful people be saved ? From a human point of view , never . But this story tells us that something more than a human point of view is involved . Somehow , God will make his marriages like the original in involved . Somehow , God will make husband marriage like the original in Eden , and even better . He wants to save marriages ----- to make them whole again . To believe in this possibility takes faith . That is one reason to tell the story of God and his Love for Israel . Love stories can get being our defenses and call our hearts toward what we were meant to be . We were meant to be lovers like Adam and Eve -----passionate , unashamed . We were meant to be lovers like God ---- passionate , unwavering even in pain .
