COURAGEOUS LOVE: tonight’s 60 minutes TV story brought tears to my eyes, not because of the enormous sadness and tragic horror Turia Pitt, a beautiful young woman suffered, but because of her bravery, courage and overcoming spirit and because of the great love of her boyfriend. Turia once had beauty men would admire, but was so severely burnt and scared that she had to permanently wear a mask to cover her entire face except her eyes and mouth. Turia told the interviewer, “The flames of the fire may have taken away part of my body, but there is still a piece inside of me that says “I am still that very independent woman who is very determined I may look different on the outside, but I am still Turia on the inside.” Michael her boyfriend accepts and loves Tori for exactly that attitude. He said, “If she can be so brave and so courageous it is easy for me to love her." Michael knew that beauty was so much deeper than skin deep, his final comment at the end of the interview was, “I am so stoked she is still alive.” I fully believe this is how Christ sees his faithful bride; on the outside she is scared and wrinkled and sadly lacking the outward appearance of beauty, but like Turia’s boyfriend he sees the goodness and struggles of the heart to overcome and because of this I am fully confident he says to his heavenly Father, “I am so stoked that my woman though scared and wrinkled is faithfully enduring in faith against all the sorrows and troubles of life to remain faithful to me.”
