COURIER-JOURNAL/PART TIME WORK: From: Brian Daugherty, an agate editor in the sports department of the Courier-Journal. I am overseeing our highs crew/temporary clerks this season and we are looking for good people. I am curious if anyone from The Concord may be interested in working for us. We are looking for hard-working, reliable people who would be interested in working on our highs crew from August through May with opportunities to freelance in the fall and spring. Our highs crew will take boxscores on all games and write up Metro Louisville and southern Indiana games. We emphasize accuracy and speed; this can be a hectic job at times, with the phone ringing off the hook (or it seems like it)! However, I hope to have a large group in here, and I’d be happy to get a couple of good candidates from Bellarmine. I strongly prefer men or women who are interested in sportswriting or sports information, and have some kind of writing, journalism and/or SID background. Campus newspaper work is more than acceptable. What I want to avoid are ex-jocks, sports enthusiasts, etc. with zero writing/reporting experience. The pay starts out at $10 per hour. In the fall we bring everyone in 8:30-12:30 on Friday nights, and there are opportunities to work Saturdays as well. In November, when the Indiana girls’ high school basketball season starts, we bring people on Tuesdays and Thursdays to take games; when Kentucky and Metro start in early December, we bring people in six days a week, with the busiest nights being Tuesdays and Fridays. I can be reached at 582-4361 after 5 p.m. Friday through Tuesday, and by email at bdaugherty@courier-journal at any time. I want to thank you for your time, and appreciate you passing this info along to interested students. Brian Daugherty The Courier-Journal courier-journal/
