COURT REMANDS STEWARD, FRIEND IN PRISON OVER N30M THEFT An Abeokuta Chief Magistrates Court on Friday remanded, Abel Vibon, 28, and his friend, Aime Siavi, 28, in prison custody for alleged burgling and theft of his employer N30million. Prosecutor Banji Sangotokun had said that the two accused persons committed the offences on June 9 at about 10 p.m. at Iyana-Oloke, Ibara Housing Estate in Abeokuta. Sangotokun said the accused persons burgled the house of one Bode Mustapha, a politician and damaged one Gababi Electronic digital safe valued at N10 million. He said that the steward and his accomplice carted away U.S dollars equivalent to N30 million and other valuables such as belts, wrist watches, 12 shirts, shoes, perfumes and jewelry. The prosecutor said that Vibon and his accomplice stole the money and valuables and fled to unknown destination, but the police latter traced, located and arrested them. He said the offences contravened Sections 516, 412, 451 (a), 383, (1) (2) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of conspiracy, burglary, stealing and unlawful damage. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Anthony Araba, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in Ibara Prison. Araba adjourned the case till Aug. 20 for consideration of bail.
