COURTESY POST FELINE LEUKEMIA POSITIVE KITTY IN NEED OF FOSTER - TopicsExpress

COURTESY POST FELINE LEUKEMIA POSITIVE KITTY IN NEED OF FOSTER AND RESCUE. I have had him for two weeks and he has been neutered and vaccinated. Unfortunately he is positive for feline leukemia. He has no symptoms and it is my understanding that he may never develop symptoms and the disease is not a problem for anyone but other cats. I cant keep him with my non positive cats so I need a home with no other cats or one with other positive cats. His behavior continues to improve daily. I think he may have been abused a little or he is struggling after being without human contact for so long. In two weeks he has gone from growling, hissing scratching and biting when stressed to occasional minor hissing and while he still occasionally swats when he is uncomfortable he is no longer using claws. He also bit me recently but it was very light and did not hurt at all. It is hard to explain but I feel that he craves contact but sometimes becomes scared. I also feel that he is trying really hard to be a good cat. He is very playful and is very neat always using the litter box and does not spray at all. Even early on when he was still very afraid of my hands he crawled into my lap and laid down. He struggles with being touched with hands but can be picked up and held. Dont really understand that one but he is making rapid progress and I now pet him but keep it short. I understand he is complicated but I still think he would make a very good pet if someone could be patient and not aggressive with him. He really is getting tired of being locked in a small room and deserves to be part of a family. I would provide a bed/scratching post, food and water bowls, a litter box and food for whatever time is needed. I would also be willing to take him back if a good home took him on a trial basis and it didnt work out. I now live in the Surprise area near the 303 and Bell but would happily deliver him to a good home. I appreciate any help you could provide. UPDATE TO ORIGINAL POST! An update. The little stray has completely stopped being afraid and aggressive. He now allows me to pet him, he crawls up into my lap and is very affectionate. I expected that he would continue to improve but was surprised by the literally overnight change. He is actually more affectionate than my other two cats. I am now even more concerned with getting him into a good home. He has tried really hard to become a good cat and deserves to be part of a family. I have to keep him in a single room and cant spend the time with him that he deserves. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. He really no longer needs any special handling, just a good home.
