COURTESY POST Unfortunately Im writing because of an urgent family matter and unfortunate situation. My Aunt Linda lived in Tempe and she passed away last week. She has a pair of Malamutes (brother and sister) named Logan and Kyah. We dont have any family that lives in Arizona (Im closest and Im in Los Angeles) and were looking for help so that the dogs dont get turned over to a shelter. The dogs are obviously very upset and it breaks my heart to think of them alone in the house all by themselves. Theyre Malamute/Husky mixes and brother and sister. Shes had them since they were puppies. Theyre 7 y/o (8 in January). Logan weighs 94 lbs and Kyah is 83. I spoke with their vet yesterday and while theyve had all their vaccinations in the past they are currently overdue on rabies, distemper/parvo and bordatella. Theyre great, active dogs. My aunt would take them to the park, for walks, camping, etc, so theyre social. Also, since my other aunt is special needs, theyd need to be well behaved and gentle to be around her. A few years ago Kyah fell on her shoulder very hard. She healed fine and is completely healthy (no problems running or jumping) but the injury left her with an awkward appearance/stance/gait (which is part of what terrifies me about her ending up in a shelter). Ideally we could get them placed with a rescue group/foster care where they would have a great chance to find a home together. Theyve been together their entire lives and Id love for it to stay that way if at all possible. A family friend is feeding the dogs and letting them out right now but we need to try and figure out another solution ASAP. Im hoping you guys can help. I dont know what else I can do from here but Im glad to do just about anything I can. Thank you for everything you do. As a dog owner myself (I have three) I know how difficult and thankless the work you do can be at times. I really appreciate any help and guidance youll be able to offer.
