CP commends Ajimobi on entrenching peace in Oyo THE Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Kola Shodipo, has commended the governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for entrenching peace in the state since his assumption of office almost four years ago. The police commissioner stated this during a courtesy visit to the governor in his office at the state secretariat last weekend. In his entourage were the Deputy Commissioner in charge of operations, Musa Kimo; Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Dasuki Galandachi; the officer in charge of State Intelligence Bureau, Anthony Okonkwo, a Chief Superintendent of Police and the Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, a Superintendent of Police. Shodipo noted the transformation in Oyo State in terms of maturity displayed by politicians, describing the people as educated and enlightened, and ascribing the peace in the state to these traits. He noted that the politicians now relate as family members unlike in the past when they would poke finger in one another’s eyes during argument. He also recalled that things were tough in relation to crime rate when he worked as Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations about 12 years ago in the state, praising the governor for ensuring reduction in crime rate through the necessary support to security agencies. Saying that he could not do anything without officially coming to the governor as the Chief Security Officer in the state, Shodipo stated that he and the governor must work together to secure lives and property which was his primary duty. In response, Senator Ajimobi welcomed the new police commissioner, saying that he believed that he was aware of the many features of the state as a pacesetter state. The governor noted that Ibadan, until recently, was regarded as the dirtiest capital city in Nigeria and a state that was known with brigandage and thuggery and archaic city with rusty roofs, saying that the state had been turned around and was now clean, aesthetically attractive and physically enabling, with a pleasurable environment created for investors. tribune.ng/news/news-headlines/item/18415-cp-commends-ajimobi-on-entrenching-peace-in-oyo
