#CPorgNews — 24 years ago on this day - July 26, 1990 - President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law. The ADA prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities and makes sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. Since 1990, much progress has been made. In early 2014, the Department of Labor released Section 503, which tasks federal contractors to work towards a 7% workforce goal of employees with disabilities. In 2012, President Obama signed executive order 13548, which requires the federal government to hire 100,000 new employees with disabilities by 2015.
