CRAB BACK POLITICS The crab back incident involving Lennox Linton must have enlightened a number of us. I heard Crazy T confessing that he had no idea that a permit was required to leave the country with a crab back or two. This was the sentiment expressed by many callers to talk shows... A few years ago I clearly remember a leading broadcaster reporting that she was questioned in Puerto Rico about the crabs that she had entering the US...Maybe she had a permit? In my humble opinion, there are many issues at stake. 1. A crab back is not a crab.2. What percentage of a crab back is actually crab? 3. Do we need a permit to export crab shells or jewelry from such shells? 4. If you have a permit to leave with a crab back or two, does it say what countries you are allowed to enter? 5. Export is a serious word and should be placed in context. Travelling with perishable food can hardly to considered
