CRACKS IN APC by Ibrahim Ola Balogun When#Shakarau left while positing that “APC lacks the vision behind its formation as it is now being run by one individual without recourse to the interim leadership of the party nationwide”. They said “Frankly speaking, we are not perturbed and we are also not surprised. The people of Kano State are politically savvy”. We said what was Mallam thinking, but what went wrong? Why would a purposeful politician suddenly called it quit with the party he labored to build and jump into a platform he had once described in unsavoury terms in the past?#Barafawa followed saying that he and his associates no longer believed they will get justice and a sense of belonging in the APC. Their response was that everyone has the right to join any party. We sensed highhandedness.#FemiFani Kayode left saying “I cannot remain in a party where a handful of people that have sympathies for Boko Haram and that have a clear Islamic agenda are playing a leading role”. They said he was never a registered member of the party and that he is deliberately distorting the statements made in the past by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to mean that he or his party is a sympathizer of Boko Haram. They went further to say that “it is common knowledge that Mr. Fani-Kayode has been charged by the Federal Government with money laundering. The trial is almost ending, and he knows he faces a certain jail term if convicted. It is therefore not impossible that Mr. Fani-Kayode may be seeking to ingratiate himself to the FG by using various media platforms to destroy the APC through accusing its leaders of being Boko Haram sponsors or that the party is bent on fielding a Muslim/Muslim ticket in next year’s presidential elections”. When another estranged pioneer member of the party,#Chief Tom Ikimi, attributed his grouse with the party to the tyrannical approach to leadership by some of the leaders of the APC, including #Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. They said they have “gone through his (Ikimi’s) statement and we have no comments at the moment.” We know all is not well with the party. When the news of defection #Senator Ali Modu Sherif from the party broke , they said they are planning a nationwide thanksgiving with a special Sunday church service and Jumma’at prayers over his defection because his exit is the best thing that would ever happen to the life of the party, due to what they calls “strategic blackmail” of the APC by the PDP, using Sheriff’s alleged links with the Boko Haram sect. When #Nuhu Ribadu decided to join guber race of Adamawa but on the platform of PDP, they said “It makes them sad because it is a very terrible thing. It is a confirmation of the level to which our society has degenerated, for a man of that calibre to fall into that trap because of governorship position is disappointing. There is no problem; we wish him luck. They are not sad because of the APC, but because it reflects on the condition of the Nigerian elite and the kind of things they fall for. Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and the Chairman of Senate Committee on Capital Market, Senator Ayoade Adeseun, had confirmed his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he declared would form the next government in Oyo state after the 2015 general elections. Remember Senator Bode Ola defection and it effect in #Ekitidecides. All the 21 local government chairmen, along with their councillors and 37 development area administrators in Adamawa State dumped the party to join the PDP.Following the leadership crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the #APC, a former governor of the state and a leader of the party,Aremou Olusegun Osoba and his loyalists are set to dump the party to form a new one. If you still think all is well with the party….Wake up from your dream….If you still think the party serious about wrestling power from Jonathan… stop day dreaming.
