CRAFTING FOR DAYS! My goodness. After many thrown around cuss - TopicsExpress

CRAFTING FOR DAYS! My goodness. After many thrown around cuss words, slips of the hand and sliced open/bloody fingers later-- Im finally finished. This prop in particular has been a LONG time coming. Rapunzel completely stole my heart back in 2011 and I finally did her justice a bit more by hand making one of her floating lights. Check out my photos a bit closer for the tracing/drawing process and then where I ended up! This was just a plain ol cylindrical lampshade that I found at goodwill that was the perfect shape and size. Using an X-acto knife against the hard inner plastic and outside fabric, I hand cut over about 3 weeks each and every design. THEN-- I had to innovate and create my own base, which I used the metal lid of a leftover candle, glued it to the shades base, and it became a platform of the perfect diameter to fit three of my flickering electric candles in! Hoorah! No burning the house down! Im quite proud of how it glows exactly how I dreamt it would in the dark. Id never seen anyone on the internet make a Tangled lantern in this fashion before out of a harder material such as this plastic. So, even though it was sort of a death wish with so many delicate and close together details and nothing but a sharp blade, hopes, and dreams-- I love how close to movie accurate it is. I also attached some very fine thread so it can be hung from the ceiling where desired and appear to be floating away into the room. *sigh* Disney dreams come true, yall. Bouncing off the walls to do a photoshoot as Rapunzel with this puppy now.
