CRB checks have recently been replaced by Disclosure and Barring Service checks. It seems, however, that the system is in melt-down in its first year. I completed the DBS form in Derby Church House on 15th August. The form was posted to the DBS on the 18th. On the DBS on-line checker they claim to have received the form on the 28th August. (Do they mean received or do they mean opened?). Today - a day short of two months after filling in the form - I am still waiting for my DBS clearance. Be warned if you are going for a job in, for example, teaching, health care or the church anytime soon; you may have to wait a long time before you can take up your post. In the meantime, who knows whether I will be Licensed on 28th October as planned? I rather doubt it!
