CREEPY CAR #8 in the Classic Owners Alliance Top 10 Countdown to Halloween gets an honorary place, not because its a classic car or even a horror film, but because it has a eerily haunting history, the kind of story that you tell in a hushed voice over a campfire while looking over your shoulder. The kind of story that make you rethink a career in construction... or muffler repair. This evilly possessed D7 Bulldozer was born of a Theodore Sturgeon novella in 1944, destroyed and revived again 30 years later by Marvel Comics Graphic Novels and the 1974 cult classic Killdozer. This slow moving killing machine with a rampage of its own was once again killed... only to come back to REAL life again 30 years later. Sound familiar? This is the part of the story that gets white-knucked and wide eyed. in 2004, a Colorado muffler repair shop owner armored a bulldozer in concrete and steel and terrorized a small town and its mayor, destroying buildings, the town hall and more before finally overcoming the owner in a basement where one Marvin Heemeyer shot himself in the head. Angry psychopath or possessed dozer driver? Were blaming the dozer, so it earns its place in our top 10 this year. Stay tuned for 2034 to see what happens next!
