CRIME PREVENTION THURSDAY: NEW WRINKLE IN OLD JAMAICAN LOTTERY SCAM The Jamaican lottery scam has been around for what seems like forever, but Jamaicas Lottery Scam Task Force is warning of a new version of that old scam. Jamaican law enforcement has started seeing cases of scam victims actually flying into the island with law sums of cash so they can pay for the taxes associated with their lottery winnings. The bad guys advise victims not to carry more than $10 grand in cash on the plane, that way they dont have to report it to authorities. Jamaican law enforcement is also finding that, in many of these cases, the bad guys are even heartless enough to establish romantic relationships with their intended victims, before telling them they won the lottery and to get on a plane to meet them and pay their taxes. Of course the con artists care nothing for their intended victims. They only want their money. So remember, if youre contacting by someone like this, its a scam! Also, please report it to police so we can keep track of it.
