CRIME UPDATE: As previously reported, 3 people were arrested at the Johnson’s Motel in Garberville last week. Deputies say the white Chevy pickup truck parked at the Johnsons Quality Motel matched the description of a truck possibly involved with burglaries and other theft in the Garberville-Redway area. Deputies knocked on door #15, 24 year old Natasha Aspinwell answered while holding her 5 month old baby. Meanwhile, deputies positioned on the other side of the building saw a man attempt to crawl out a back window, 36 year old Steven Buskirk was apprehended. Another man was in the motel room when deputies started the search, he gave a false name but was later identified as 32 year old Beau McCabe. According to a press release, officers searched the room and found a small amount of heroin, numerous syringes, methamphetamine pipes, Norco pills, scales, thirty five $100 bills, items indicating sale of marijuana, a black ski mask, wire cutters, 3 two way radios, a pry bar, headlamps, flashlights, electrical tape and binoculars. The baby was taken into protective custody, the mother Natasha Aspinwell was arrested as was Steven Buskirk, both have since posted bail. McCabe was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools, providing a false name to a police officer and violation of probation. He is being held without bail. Aspinwell, Buskirk and McCabe were all already on formal felony probation before this latest arrest on August 12th. Humboldt County District Attorney Gallegos told KMUD News that his office, quote, “currently has 2 reports which allege that Mr. Buskirk has engaged in unlawful conduct. One report is an alleged drug sales case that is currently pending for more investigation. The other report is an alleged stolen property case that has yet to be charged.” And once received, the DA’s office will add the most recent arrest report to the Buskirk file. ** Thanks to Lost Coast Outpost for the booking photos!**
