CRITICISM & PRAISE: Last week I received a Facebook message that read in part, You are such a fraud. You post all those positive statuses but you are full of (deleted). Who are you trying to impress? are you just trying to pick up unsuspecting women?. The message was from a woman whom I have ignored her semi regular romantic advances since having dinner with her last November or December. I love the crazy ones. Yesterday I got this very sweet message from a different woman, I am knitting you a cape after that post about helping the young boy with his fears.....You are like a super hero. Im comfortable enough in my own skin that most insults hurled my way are ignored. The same can be said for a lot compliments, I love hearing them of course but I know the real me. That silly new song is right, haters are going to hate. Its what they do. People will project their own misery and their own low self-esteem on to us. Some people believe they can build themselves up by trying to tear us down. They are not only wrong, they are stupid. Accepting compliments are the flip side of that coin. Some people may be like me and have trouble with praise. Someone very wise once told me that half of the compliments we get are true and the other half we receive are from people just being nice. We need to be worthy of both. Life is too short to listen to the negative or be around people who only want to hurt us. Seek out strong people, positive people, those who value and appreciate who we are. We should lives our lives while others are complaining about theirs. Happy Wednesday.
