CROSS COUNTRY RALLIES, NOVEMBER 16 If you are interested in working towards this goal in Halifax, there is a meeting at Noon this Saturday, November 2, in the Universalist Unitarian Church, 5500 Inglis St., Hfx. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following was received this afternoon in an email from Catherine Abreau of the Ecology Action Centre Ecology Action A coalition made up of individuals and organizations across Canada is organizing a National Day of Action on Saturday, November 16th called “Defend our Climate, Defend our Communities.” We want to show the growing number of communities taking action at this crucial moment to oppose pipelines, reckless tar sands expansion and runaway climate change across the country. With your help, we can organize a highly visual public action to challenge our government, rally the public, and show the unprecedented breadth, depth and diversity of opposition across the country. Our goal is to show 100 communities creating a “united wall of opposition” with simultaneous events around the country, and people and groups have already agreed to host actions in nine big cities and communities from Northern BC to the Maritimes. We’d love for you to be part of this. Would you consider hosting an event in your community on November 16th? The events are taking place at local landmarks and MP offices, and they can be as simple as linking arms and taking a photo with a sign that says “Defend our Climate.” Hosting is really simple, and we’ll send clear guides to help every step of the way.
