CROWN OF LIFE Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we can wear an imperishable crown of salvation. 1 Corinthians 9:25 Michael Fred Phelps II is an American swimmer and the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 71 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze medals. In the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Phelps won additional 4 gold and 2 silver medals, making him the most successful athlete for three Olympics in a row. All these because he trains 6 hours a day, 6 days a week. He swims 13 kilometers every training day and approximately 80.5 kilometers every week. What a disciplined athlete! Though not all of us can be like Michael, we can work on winning our imperishable crown of salvation. We can do it through the same spirit of discipline. The first rule is to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). We need to pray consistently at all times. We need to study and obey His Word. We must be a good witness as God’s athlete with complete reverence for God. We have to run the race, persevere in our trials and keep the faith. - Roger of The Living Water. Dear Lord, help me to acquire the intense desire to obey You that I may inherit the crown of life. Amen. WISE WORDS: “The final test of love is obedience.” - AW Tozer
