CRPF will now guard army convoys 05 July 2013 Hyderpora Attack 7 paramilitary Cos to provide security cover in Srinagar Srinagar, July 5 : After extending operational jurisdiction of CRPF following June 24 deadly mujahideen strike in Hyderpora, Srinagar in which eight army men were killed, security agencies have given paramilitary force personnel additional responsibility of guarding the army convoys on highway in Srinagar. At least seven CRPF companies will escort and provide security cover to the army convoys on highway. “We have been asked to deploy seven companies on highway in Srinagar to escort army convoys under new Standard Operations Procedure (SOP) formed after June 24 mujahid attack in Hyderpora,” said a senior CRPF official, pleading anonymity. He said the decision in this regard was taken in a high level meeting of all security and intelligence agencies at 15 corps headquarters after the June 24 attack.
