CSA Fight Team Update: Man...I have labored long and hard over this...should I say something...should I draw attention to a negative topic that hurts the sport I love...Im truly past the point of conflicted...I like Duke his team, etc...Ive only heard about Scott :/... but after watching this video ...I cant NOT say something. The Ref, the ringside doctor, the corner.... all of them...Im beyond disgusted as to what is really happening here. Im not a Ref or a Doctor (its obvious to even a layman they are at fault here as well) but I can only truly speak as a corner...this sport has to be about more then just winning ...as a corner I have stopped fights in the corner, I have stopped people from fighting that arent ready, Ive pulled people from fights if I feel their cuts have been/or will be too severe. You can not in good conscious watch this video and say you wouldnt have done something...this kid is too tough for his own good and the piece that bothers Me most personally Im sorry is the body language from Scott- his corner (this entire video) is one of disgust not actual care for this fighters safety. As coaches, we have got to make sure that we are always looking out for the best interest of our fighter ...you can tough out a break, broken nose, a sprain, separated shoulder, etc, etc, the list goes on and on...but the brain... You have to know the warning signs...You have to always be conscious of a fighters overall health. This young man is beyond fatigued in this video and if you cant see that...you have no business Coaching there is a huge difference between gassing out and a fighter experiencing a mental distress episode..his gait, his loss of equilibrium, his lack of responsiveness to direction & his opponents activity and I guarantee you his speech in between rounds are all severely impacted... If someone was actually looking and listening to this kid vs. Posturing and browbeating...coaching is about more then winning...these men and women put their hopes, dreams and LIVES in our hands. Sometimes this gets lost in the pursuit of personal gain. This post may not be received well by my peers, other coaches, gyms, the fans, etc...I dont care...If one person can read this and say hey man, I need to watch for these things instead of being wrapped up in the Fog of WAR... Then Ive done my job. As a Coach, you have to actually CARE more about The Fighter then you do about the gym Winning!
