CSUSB was a nice visit, art students there making art on par with anything I see at the other grad schools. Love the ego-boosted swelled head that academia provides to an expert in the field but home now and my head is shrinking fast - I would have been the most pompous jackass of a professor with a daily dose of that feeling of superiority that only earnest twentysomethings can provide. No academic i know will ever cop to such flagrant situational self-regard and yet they all recognize what I describe as afflicting various colleagues.
