CUBA - some thoughts on trading with Castro starting today!! January 16, 2015 In 1958 CUBA was the third economic power in Latin America after Venezuela and Brazil. Today one of the poorest, most oppressed country in the world! In the area of health, Cuba occupied the third place in Latin America after Uruguay and Argentina. Today we even have to send aspirins to our families...only tourist see the nice hospitals. Cubans even have to take their own sheets!!! Cuba was the first producer of cobalt in Latin America and the second producer of nickel worldwide. It had an excellent educational system and it had the largest percentage of public expenditure for education in Latin America. I must admit education is still excellent today. Cuba held first place in Latin America and fifth in the world in television sets per capita. (There is only one TV station now) The country had 58 newspapers in circulation ( 1 under Castro) Cuba held eighth place in the world in the number of radio stations.(1 under Castro) In cars per capita, Cuba occupied third place. New cars arrived in Cuba before they did in Miami. Those cars are still being used. COMMUNISM destroyed my country. Today we will start trade with the Castro brothers. There were a lot of concessions granted...very few in return!Cuba still has political prisoners whose only crime was to express their opinion or to fight for freedom. They still have a ration book, they still are not free to express their thoughts, they still live in an island prison. I pray this change is for the betterment of my people....not the oppressors.
