CULTURAL TOURISM: A people with secular tradition. Cameroon is a country with rich and lively traditions. This is seen through the variety and diversity of its folklore, handicraft, habitat and ways of life. To each region corresponds a specific type of folklore. In the South for instance there is the” Bafia ballet” “Bikutsi” “ Assiko” and other dances presented by the “Mvet” dancer ,the epic poet. In the west can be found the Bameleke dancers who wear masks and colourful attires. The North is the land of “ fantasia” with its horse riders dressed in brightly- coloured costumes and where are performed the Lam and Gourna dances. Handicraft can be found everywhere but the west and the north of the country are the true headquarters. Bafoussam, Foumban and Bamenda are towns reputed for their masks, embroidered costumes, figurines, seats, thrones, pipes, baked clay, bronze or wooden statues. In Maroua, an attractive agglomeration famous for its multicolour and teeming market, one can find embroidered table cloths, slippers, hand bags made with crocodile, snake or iguana skin, bracelets, spears, carpets and decorative objects. To this diversity of handicraft can be added a rich historical heritage (monuments and vestiges) to which can be added English- French bilingualism as well as very old traditional chiefdoms ( Rey-Bouba, Foumban). ECOTOURISM: An ecotourist paradise. With a population made up of more than two hundred and fifty different ethnic groups with traditions dating back to a thousand years, a biodiversity dominated by the forest, the Savannah and the mountain, and by one of the richest and most varied fauna in Africa, Cameroon has a vast ecotourist potential. There are four sites which are worth visiting; the Dja reserve the Korup National park, the Botanical Garden in Limbe and Ebodje village.
