CULTURE NIGHT: Creative Chaos & Couture at NATIONAL CRAFT GALLERY Friday 20th September, 5.00pm - 9.30pm. Join us for an evening extravaganza of fashion, shoes, making, workshops and more - inspired by the fabulous forms and fashions in our COSTUME exhibition! Kicking off at 5pm with kiddies workshops the evening includes Bold Body Sculpture wire and mixed media workshop with Caroline Schofield, then Pick up a Pencil and explore the galleries through drawing! Culture nighters try your hand up-cycling at our Embellishment Station with textile artist Deirdre Harte or show off your favourite shoes for our Shoe Fantastic-Glam Cam! Grown-ups can design and make a Fascinating Fascinator with milliner Rebecca Patterson or bring your needles and join the Crochet Circle making Collars & Cuffs! 5.00-8.00pm: Bold Body Sculpture: Children’s creative drop-in workshops inspired by Stephaine Bila’s sculptural body objects facilitated by textile artist Caroline Schofield. Using wire, textiles and mixed media children will imagine, design and create colourful sculptural forms. Drop-in! 5.00-7.00pm: Crochet Collars & Cuffs: Bring your needles and join the crochet circle with members of Kilkenny Councils Making Space project. Show your skills or knit your first stitch! 5.00-9.30pm Pick up a Pencil: Drawing from the exhibition - take inspiration to doodle, draw and sketch from the shapes, patterns and textures in our COSTUME exhibition. Drop-in and draw! 5.00-9.30pm Shoe Fantastic, Glam Cam: Wear your most loved, most outrageous, ‘never see the light of day’, designer, funky, ‘why did I buy these’ shoes …and tell us their story! Drop-in! 6.00-9.00pm Embellishment Station: Try up-cycling an old shirt or revamping a plain dress, textile artist Deirdre Harte will show some simple and fun ways to make your old wardrobe pop! Bring an item to up-cycle & drop-in! 7.00pm – 9.40pm Fascinating Fascinators: Milliner Rebecca Patterson will guide you through the process of making your own personalised fascinator!
