CUMBERLAND COUNTY AUTHORITIES SAY THAT THEY HAVE DISCOVERED HUMAN SKELETAL REMAINS WHICH MAY BE THAT OF MISSING WOMAN Investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Dept. believe they may have discovered the remains of a woman who has been missing for several weeks. 47-year-old Nina Karen Owens has been missing from her H&B Farms Drive home since Aug. 10th. However she was reported missing on Aug. 22. Authorities began an investigation and after following leads, began searching a large, secluded area off Pugh Cemetery Rd. After two days of searching, deputies located human skeletal remains on Sept. 29th. They believe those remains are Owen’s. Following the discovery, Investigators contacted the State of Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office, the Middle Tennessee State University Anthropology Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to assist in the collection of the remains and to assist in the investigation. Sheriff Casey Cox stated that the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case as a homicide. However, Investigators are currently awaiting an official report on the cause of death from the Medical Examiner’s Office.
