CUMC Devotional - November 8 Mans Best Friend Yesterday, I visited someone in the hospital. I was visiting with the patient and her family, when all of a sudden, a lady knocked on the door and said, Would you like to see a therapy dog? She came in the room carrying a small dog and approached the patient. It was is if someone had flipped a smile switch on the patient. Her whole demeanor changed as she pet the dog. I thought to myself, What would it be like if my dog Bo served as a therapy dog? Ill tell you what it would be like - it would be a complete disaster! Bo is a yellow lab who weighs over 100 pounds and considers himself a lap dog. I can see him jumping on the hospital bed and chewing on the IV cord. It would not be a therapeutic experience for the patient. Some dogs are cut out for this kind of service and others are not. It was neat to see how an animal could affect a patient in such a positive way. It was another reminder of how we are connected not only to one another, but to all of Gods creation, including animals. Prayer: Gracious God we give you thanks for all of your creation, including animals. We especially thank you for our pets. Amen. In Christ, Brad Brittain
