CUMC Devotional - October 10 Motivation My dog is a 100 pound yellow lab named Bo. Bo is worthless. He is not a hunting dog and would not be mistaken for a watchdog. He eats, sleeps, and barks. Thats about it. The past year or so we have noticed he has become more and more lazy. When we take him to the vet, we have to literally lift him in the car because he will not jump into the car. Did I mention he is 100 pounds? You should see me straining to lift him into the car. So you can imagine my surprise when last night I was told he jumped onto my youngest sons bed, which is much higher than the car. I said, You have got to be kidding me! How in the world did he do that? Alisha replied, Andrew was eating some cheese in his bed and Bo decided he wanted a snack. Funny how the dog can jump up on a bed for a piece of cheese but cant jump two feet into a car! Its all about motivation. Bo is obviously motivated by food. We are all motivated by various things: money, work, relationships, fear of failure, etc. The real question in our discipleship is, What truly motivates us to love others as Jesus has commanded us to love? I pray you have a great day and are motivated to love others in the right spirit. Prayer: God we thank you for today and pray that we will be motivated to do the right things at the right time today. Amen. In Christ, Brad Brittain
