CURIOSITY IN THE LAP OF LOVE graphite and charcoal on paper (7.5 x 10 inches) pls like ma page facebook/shwetabhsuman THE STORY & INTERPRETATION: Here in this work by me (suman), we see a man holding his son in his lap. But, hey, they are not only a father and a son, rather, there are two distinct emotions and expressions completely convincing the beholders. Take a deeper look at the subject, I can boast that after some pondering you’ll not only find the son sitting in the lap of father. Instead, you’ll find a huge lump of curiosity sitting in the lap of infinite love. The baby is pointing somewhere in front and the expressions on his face clearly tell that he is not just a son, but a huge mass of questions, a huge realm of curiosity. He is having a hunger to explore this world where he is just a new bud. And the father is enjoying one of the most pleasing moments of this world. See his eye that cannot bear this heavenly pleasure and has gotten closed . . . . . and the quiet smile on his crinkled face tells the story of the pleasure, for what he has waited so long. One who is a father, can know the pleasure of filling his lap with one who’s come out of him, who’s his own blood in a different creation and the pleasure of giving him protection by curling his hands around his angel. He knows, he is not protecting only the baby, but also protecting his own emotion that’s hooked so badly with him (the baby). There you can of course see a lake of love. And the climax of this scenario is as we see that both the curiosity and the love are unaware of each other, just lost in their own self, yet they are bound with an invisible force. And this whole story suggests the best title for this work as CURIOSITY IN THE LAP OF LOVE. Thanx for showing interest in my art and going through the story.
