CURRENCY EXCHANGE–It is advised that the tour members exchange a small amount of dollars into the local currency before departure. Contact your bank for exchange rates and process. You may also exchange currency at a local bank upon arrival at your destination. Hotels will exchange a small amount of currency as a courtesy but the exchange rate is slightly less favorable. Contact LT to verify the currency used in the countries included in your tour itinerary. As you travel throughout your tour, the tour manager will allow time for the group to stop at an ATM machine to obtain local currency. In all countries, in general, credit cards and ATM machines are highly recommended for security and to obtain the best rate of exchange. ATM cards bearing the CIRRUS, STAR, INTERLINK sign can be used to withdraw cash at the ATM machines, provided you have a PIN Personal Identification Number which is valid in Europe. Contact your bank to verify acceptance and to advise in which countries you will be using your card. Best exchange rates are at banks, hotels usually are slightly less favorable. For purchases, if not using currency, the best exchange rates are obtained by using a credit card. Some establishments require a minimum charge in order to accept payment by credit card. Visa and MasterCard are most commonly accepted, some businesses accept American Express. It is no longer recommended to travel with Traveler’s Cheques.
